here are some well known romantic scenes which i did not include in my list. i’m sharing them anyway because it’s the month of love and i’m all about love. ;))

From Here to Eternity (1953)

Ghost (1990)

Say Anything (1989)

Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

Love Actually (2003)

Starring: lots of people! hehehe.
Director: Richard Curtis
Tagline: It’s All About Love… Actually.

But for now let me say, without hope or agenda, just because it’s christmas – (and at christmas you tell the truth) – to me you are perfect. and my wasted heart will love you until you look like (picture of ugly skeletal woman).

i think it’s ironic that my favorite romantic movie scene comes from a movie i didn’t like the first time i watched it. don’t worry, i like the movie now. hehehe.

i don’t think i need to explain why this scene is romantic. it just is. most of you who know me, know that i’m a big fan of unrequited love so it won’t be a big suprise that this for me is the most romantic movie scene. there are hardly any words spoken. no romantic music playing in the background. but it hits straight to the heart. 😉

Never Been Kissed (1999)

Starring: Drew Barrymore, Michael Vartan
Director: Raja Gosnell
Tagline: She’s never been hip. Never been cool. Never been in… Until now.

don’t you just wish your first kiss was that great? 😉

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

Starring: Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet
Director: Michael Gondry
Tagline: You can erase someone from your mind. Getting them out of your heart is another story.

this movie is one of my favorite movies of all time. i remember being so dumbstruck after watching it. dealing with a concept that is so hard to grasp such as erasing a person from your memory and making it so tangible is what makes this movie so amazing.

i think the scene above is romantic because it captures the last memories that joel has of clementine.

CLEMENTINE (eyes welling): This is it, Joel. It’s gonna be gone soon.
JOEL: I know.
CLEMENTINE: What do we do?
JOEL: Enjoy it. Say goodbye.

i love it when she says, what if you stayed this time? come back and make up a goodbye at least, let’s pretend we have one. this scene asks so many what ifs… what if i didn’t walk out that door? what if i stayed? and what not.

and it just strikes you… no matter how many times you say no regrets, there will always be that other option you could have chosen, the unavoidable what if? it’s hard to live with decisions you’ve made, especially if they turn out to be big big BIG mistakes. but what we all seem to forget is the moment when we made that decision and the factors that led to it. so whatever the outcome of that decision may have been, at that moment when you chose it, it is what you wanted and for that, you should have no regrets. 😉

Pride and Prejudice (2005)

Starring: Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen
Director: Joe Wright
Tagline: Sometimes the last person on earth you want to be with is the one person you can’t be without.

ano daw? :))

the first clip here is from the bbc pride and prejudice mini-TV series starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. i actually prefer the mini-TV series more than the movie. i think Colin Firth is perfect as Mr. Darcy! :)) this clip compares the scene of Darcy’s first proposal between the mini-TV series and the movie. i had previously prepared a different clip but the youtube management deleted it. so i’m using this one. 😀

i find this scene so amusing. he proposes his love for her first by listing everything that is wrong with her. so very uptight and british! i love it! :))

here is the scene of the 2nd proposal from the 1995 BBC movie starring Colin Firth…

Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001)

Starring: Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant
Director: Sharon McGuire
Tagline: This Year’s Resolutions: Stop smoking. Stop drinking. Find inner poise. Go to the gym three times a week. Don’t flirt with the boss. Reduce thighs. Learn to love thighs. Forget about thighs. Stop making lists.

did you see a similarity with pride and prejudice? :)) actually, bridget jones’ diary is very much similar to pride and prejudice that even the lead character’s name is Mr. Darcy. hehehe. well, this is much easier to understand since it isn’t said in old english. :))

and since i posted the ending of the first movie, i’m posting the ending of this movie here too…

i’m currently obsessed with…

... victoria's secret lingerie (i really want to buy some and have them shipped here)
... tumblr-ing
... hula-hooping
... learning my old piano pieces again
... expensive stuff i can't afford
... still being kissed ala north & south

That’s the closest to my idea of love: watching the skyline, making out, making mistakes, making believe desire means it’s with somebody else, then breaking up, and, if we’re lucky, forgiveness that comes right before take-off. There, I’ve said it. What more can one want? A lover who loves me as much as the rain. Rain, and, from the opening credits to the closing heart, Gershwin.
