i really didn’t think i’d be excited to watch this movie especially after watching the first one but that trailer just got me interested again. okay, so now i’m really excited! hahaha.

it’s no secret that new moon is my favorite of the Twilight Series. i know most people don’t like it because Bella spent most of her time moping around after Edward left her. personally, i loved it even though it made me cry. it was emotionally a bad time for me when i read it and i guess it hit a nerve. there’s just something about how Stephanie Meyer wrote about Bella’s heartbreak that was real. so what if Bella turned totally emo, don’t we all?

why do i have a feeling i’m going to be a Jacob fan after watching this movie? not once during the entire time i was reading the series did i feel that Jacob was the right one for her. i wonder if it has anything to do with this…

uhhh, Edward who? oh yeah, who cares about some dazzling, immortal creature when i can have that instead! wahahaha! shet, hormones! ;P

i have a little confession to make. i’m starting to develop this major crush on Robert Pattinson which is really weird ‘coz he’s really not my type. i’ve been watching online interviews of him on youtube and i must say he’s really cute in the i-look-like-i-haven’t-showered-yet-but-i-really-don’t-care kind of way. seriously, what’s wrong with his hair? despite his distracting hair, i’m still getting a bit too interested in his life and activities. perhaps it’s that boyish charm that’s reeling me in. 😀

i finally read cleolinda‘s recap of the Twilight movie: Twilight in Fifteen Minutes. the perfect recap in my opinion!!! it was so hard trying not to laugh out loud at my desk. =)

this isn’t twilight related anymore but i’m really really loving this song right here…

clip from Center Stage 2 Turn It Up

the song is Swing Baby Swing by The DNC and it’s playing on loop on my ipod right now.

so OBVIOUSLY, i’m not over yet. that’s that.

moving on…

i watched the twilight movie yesterday with my mom and my sister and i liked it. okay, so it’s not Oscar material but well, I wasn’t expecting it to be Oscar material in the first place. i came into the movie house with low expectations because of all the bad reviews i was reading and hearing from friends. there are quite a few things i didn’t like:

  • bad makeup. i know that the cullens are the walking undead but why must their skin look so pasty white?
  • the lack of background music. there was a part in the middle where edward and bella were getting to know each other where there was no music whatsoever. it felt as though something was decidedly lacking from the scenes.
  • the panning in the scene where she tells edward that she knows he’s a vampire. it just seemed rather wrong.
  • some scenes from the book that were changed in the movie. i really liked the scene from the book where Edward blocks Bella’s car so that Tyler could ask her out to the prom but they didn’t include that in the movie. oh well…

i’m a bit 50-50 on the acting. they had good chemistry together. Kristen Stewart is really really pretty!!! i love her hair in the movie especially during the bedroom makeout scene. Rob Pattinson had his handsome angles although he’s really not my type and his makeup was a bit distracting. i think his brooding, tortured portrayal of Edward Cullen still needs improvement but he did a pretty good job. i think they both did a good job. kinilig nga ako eh. 😛

i think the biggest complaint is how different the movie is from the book. i kept on recalling scenes from the book and thinking hmm… that’s not how it happened in the book. i think the main problem when a book is turned into a movie is the fact that the way we imagined how things happened in the book may be different from a screenwriter or director’s vision of it. the imagination is such a powerful tool that book-movie adaptations tend to fall short of how we envisioned it to be.

i’m glad they’re making another movie. hopefully the next one will have a better makeup coordinator. hahaha! my sister told me that this first film was low budget despite all the hype that was attached to it. now that it’s made a killing in the box office, i hope they get more money to make the second movie a lot better. to think there’s supposed to be scenes filmed in italy!!! hahaha. it’s no secret that New Moon is my favorite book of the series. it was probably the most boring because of the way it started but Stephanie Meyer did a good job in writing about Bella’s heartbreak. perhaps a bit too emo, but still it was good. i may not be a super fangirl but i am already eagerly anticipating the next movie. hahaha!

… and now i’m sleepy. hehehe.

yesterday was filled with anticipation on the arrival of my copy of stephanie meyer‘s latest installment of the twilight series: breaking dawn. at first, i was worried that my copy wouldn’t arrive and that i’d have to spend the night blaming my lazy ass for having the book delivered instead of going to the bookstore and buying it. but then the call from our floor guard came informing me that powerbooks was outside with my delivery. i think i skipped out of my chair and walked as fast as i could to get my book. hahaha! okay, before you start thinking wow! this girl’s obsessed, in my defense i hardly think i’m going to pass off as a major fangirl of the series. i mean, i like the books but i don’t spend every waking moment of the day thinking about them (although there was a time i did. haha!). anyway, i just really wanted to know how the entire thing ended… you know with the human teenage girl being passionately and irrevocably in love with a vampire.

my patience was put to the test since i joined a few friends for dinner. believe me, all i wanted to do as soon as i got the book was lock myself in my room and start reading. but i had dinner first. declined an invitation to join them for drinks. and started to read on the commute home. i was done with 150 pages when i finally stepped off my mrt station. when i got home my sister shared with me some of the reviews that she had been reading online already. it seems that a lot of people are disappointed by the book.

i finished the book at around 2:30am which wasn’t so good because that left me 30 minutes to fall asleep before the “bewitching hour”. scaredy-cat that i am, i really thought it unwise to finish a vampire book by this hour. good thing i was pretty tired and fell asleep as soon as i closed the lights. 🙂

now, the verdict. how did i like the book? well, i didn’t hate it. i didn’t love it either. it was okay. i was a bit thrown off by the twist which means that it was a good plot twist. in certain ways, i think it was the perfect ending to the series. it was maybe a bit too action packed for my taste, like stephanie meyer was cramming all she could in the book since it was the last. one comment of a fan that i read and totally agree with is that it seemed like she was already imagining the movie when she wrote the book. however, if you’re a fan of the book or you’ve read the first 3 books, i’ll say read this one even just to see how it all ends.

in defense of stephanie meyer, i’d like to say this. i think it’s bad form for some people to react by saying don’t burn it, return it. i’m sure all of us have different ideas on how this is supposed to end, but let’s all remember that this is stephanie meyer’s story to tell and this was how she chose to end it. when i read a book, i suspend all my disbelief and let the storyteller lead me to his/her world. i was a bit suprised with all the backlash i’ve been reading over the net, because never once did i react this way while reading the book. as i said, i’m not much of a fan as everyone else who’s reacted probably is but cut her some slack, she is after all the author. 😀

my favorite book of the series is still new moon because it was able to get this reaction out of me. 😉

after reading the book, i suggest that you read this girl’s super hilarious review of breaking dawn: http://cleolinda.livejournal.com/630150.html. but please read it after because it’s sure to spoil you.

i warned you. 🙂

i just pre-ordered my own copy of Breaking Dawn, the fourth installment of Stepanie Meyer’s vampire saga. i waited for a month for this book and now it’ll be mine in just a few more days. woohoo… i have a feeling i won’t be sleeping come monday night. :))

currently, there are three books already published: twilight, new moon and eclipse.

in summary the book series is about a teenager, Bella, who falls in love with a vampire, Edward. he falls in love with her too and it’s a constant struggle for him as he desires to taste her blood. Bella’s best friend turns out to be a werewolf, who happens to be the mortal enemy of a vampire. pretty heavy stuff for a teenage girl to handle right? 🙂

it’s a fun and easy read, quite a page-turner actually. when i was reading the first three books, i constantly passed on invites to go out as i was eager to snuggle in bed and read. the third book, eclipse, left me wanting for more!!! i mean, will she or won’t she become a vampire?!? i just have to know. i really don’t want her to become one because it is a cruel thing to be the walking undead, but how will their love survive if she doesn’t become one. hmm… such a dilemma!!! hayayay!!! and yes, since i don’t have a lovelife, i live vicariously through books and movies. i need to get myself a lovelife! 😀

oh, and there’s already a movie on the first book, twilight. it’s coming out on dec. 12 this year so i’m definitely marking my calendar for this.

i’m currently obsessed with…

... victoria's secret lingerie (i really want to buy some and have them shipped here)
... tumblr-ing
... hula-hooping
... learning my old piano pieces again
... expensive stuff i can't afford
... still being kissed ala north & south

That’s the closest to my idea of love: watching the skyline, making out, making mistakes, making believe desire means it’s with somebody else, then breaking up, and, if we’re lucky, forgiveness that comes right before take-off. There, I’ve said it. What more can one want? A lover who loves me as much as the rain. Rain, and, from the opening credits to the closing heart, Gershwin.
