last friday night, otherwise known as All Hallow’s Eve, nina, joy and i went out with the two french dudes who we met at La Union last, last weekend. i normally spend Halloween at home counting down the hours till morning. if you’re not aware, i’m a big Big BIG scaredy-cat. this year was different though, because all three of us were looking forward to meeting cute guys. let’s face it, meeting cute guys trumps my unfounded fears. hahaha!

we didn’t dress up in costumes because well, we just didn’t. 😛 i didn’t know so many people actually dressed up during Halloween in the first place. apparently, using Halloween as an excuse to dress up as a slut is done here as well as in the US. *sorry, may pagka-manang na talaga ako.*

we met up with the guys for drinks at Temple Bar where we met a few more of their friends: Vincent (HOT!) and Sebastian (HOTTER!) who was with his girlfriend Olivia (HOT!). we then went to a private party of one of their friends in Valero where we met a few more foreign guys. (yup, apparently we’ve broken into the foreign guys network.) after hanging out there and drinking beer, we decided to go to Bureau.

it was a bit disconcerting being the “filipinas with the foreigners.” we were getting being stared at quite a bit. admit it, we sometimes stare when we see a group of filipinas with foreigners. it was weird being part of the group being stared at. sometimes, nina, joy and i would stop and stare at other similar groups and ask each other whether we looked like the other filipina-foreigner couples around. then we’d shake our heads and assure each other that we don’t look at all like those girls and that we look less slutty and more intelligent. these thoughts vanished as soon as the dancing started in Bureau.

wow! it’s been too long since i had that much fun!!! just letting go and dancing with friends, it was great!!! we capped off the night at 5am with extremely tired feet but on a complete endorphin high! i didn’t even consume that much alcohol! i was high from all the dancing. i need more nights like these! 😀

anyway, i think my days of spending All Hallow’s Eve counting the hours till sunrise are over. next year, i’ll see if i can find a slutty-but-not-so-slutty outfit to wear. 😛

it’s been another activity filled weekend for me…

Friday, 2008.09.12: UNO Hottest Girls Party and Ascend Gimik

a few of my teammates and i attended the UNO Hottest Girls party at A Venue last friday in the hopes of seeing some hot women in skimpy outfits strutting their stuff. we were disappointed though. the event wasn’t prepared or conceptualized that well. we were supposed to go to the Gossipboys Pool Party but we opted not to anymore because the venue was far away. we ended up going to Ascend instead. i really am not a club girl anymore. i just get weirded out by how young and wild everyone seems to be. haaay… paminsan, manang na talaga ako. :))

Saturday, 2008.09.13: Ultimate Training at CSA and a nine-hour mall tambay

after turning in early saturday morning from ascend, we headed to CSA for ultimate training. there were only less than ten of us who showed up for that training so wendell just taught us how the proper form of throwing a backhand and forehand. we called it a day when it started raining down hard after which we headed to rockwell for lunch at banana leaf. i was supposed to go home after lunch but for reasons that are too embarrassing to be explained here i stayed on to hang out with jc, joy and jo till 9pm.

during our tambay at coffee bean, derek (ramsay) actually came over to our table to talk ultimate with mr. “macho ako” jc. needless to say, joy, jo and i were all dumbstruck grinning fools who couldn’t get a straight sentence into the conversation. he even sat on the the arm of my armchair. joy and jo said i was sitting so stiffly after he did that. despite the fact that i get to see him almost every weekend during tournaments, i still get dumbstruck because he’s so hot. hahaha! 😛

Sunday, 2008.09.14: Malakas at Maganda, Day 1 and Bern’s Dad’s Birthday Party

yey! it’s the all-men’s and all-women’s league again! the all-women’s league is really my favorite league because we gals get to play some fun, relatively stress-free ultimate. it really is different when a game is testosterone-free. our first game was against the SP girl team, Slush, which we lost by universal point, 8-7. we didn’t feel bad after the loss though because all of us stepped up in that game. there we were, 10 out-of-shape yuppies running after 16 really fit mountaineers. i really believe we could’ve won that game, we just lacked the athleticism and endurance to finish it off. but as i said, none of us felt bad about the loss because we really weren’t expecting that good of an outcome. our second game was against the women of Ultimate Warriors, which we won 13-1. we played a bit too lax in that game. it was a bad game for us… bad throws, bad catches, bad cutting and bad defense. i think that we can make it all the way to the finals if we’re consistent in the way we play. =)

joy and i didn’t join the after-game dinner with toda anymore because we had to head back to makati to shower and change for bern’s dad’s birthday party at her place…

so there’s my update of last weekend. it’s a bit late but i’ve been busy with work. 😉

west side story

truth be told, i wasn’t expecting much out of this production. not because i was undermining the Philippine production but just because the movie was absolutely perfect for me. it still is. however, STAGES production of west side story isn’t bad at all! in fact, i was pretty impressed by the overall production. the set was designed very well considering the different locations the scenes are set in. the lead actors, Christian Bautista as Tony and Joanna Ampil as Maria, were pretty good. the dancing was based on the movie and yet it was pulled off superbly. but i guess what suprised me was how very good the supporting actors were. Anita played by Rowena Vilar was just amazing! her’s was the best performance for me. if you can still find tickets to this play then i suggest you watch it. 😉

yes, another booksale!

powerbooks just recently concluded it’s book sale last month. however, i wasn’t able to buy all the titles i wanted since most of them were out of stock already. now, national book store has a sale till the end of the month and i was only too glad to find some of the books on my list. i’ve bought 3 already…

and i have a few more i’d like to buy before the sale ends. i really am having fun reviving my love for reading. i just hope my wallet can take the damage. hahaha!

the tale of two parties

i attended two birthday parties last saturday night and ended up disgustingly wasted by morning that i don’t really remember anything much from the second party anymore. this isn’t the first time i’ve woken up with a lack of memory of the previous night, but it hasn’t happened in a long time. i believe the last time i was this drunk was in boracay earlier this year.

the first party i went to was a suprise birthday party for yug. i started out with one san mig light then they started serving this tasty concoction of what seemed like gin and pineapple juice that was supposed to be drank as shots. after joy and i had a shot, we thought it’d be fine to drink it through a straw. hahaha! so we poured some in our glasses and proceeded to make it a ladies drink. figures, that i’d get pissed drunk right? anyway, i also had two shots of whiskey, one shot of vodka and joy and i drank one beer straight up. by the time we left yug’s party a few minutes before 12midnight i was already giggling like crazy.

still completely sober in these first two pictures

my first shot of whiskey in the first pic and melai and me pouting in the second pic

which leads me to the second party… normann’s supposed “debut”. hahaha! i remember getting there. i also remember a shot of gin (probably) because i wasn’t in hippie attire. then i also remember a bottle of red horse. after that, i don’t remember much. i have pictures on my camera from that party but i don’t even remember taking out my camera. i do remember the vomiting though and the voices of the friends who helped me. suprisingly i wasn’t feeling so bad when i woke up but i knew i made an embarrassing spectacle of myself during my puking incident. plus i was sure i acted like a brat, like i normally do when i get super drunk. hahaha! argh, kakahiya!

ian and me in the first pic. jo and me with birthday boy normann in the second pic. both from my camera, neither of which i remember taking or being taken. 😛

yeah, i’m practicing melai’s pout a lot. first pic with gb. second pic with rissa and joy. pictures are from my camera again.

first pic showing me giving rox a big wet kiss on the cheek. a group pic for the second pic. pictures from roxy’s camera.

apparently, i smoked that cigar i was holding on the first pic. and one thing that struck me in the second pic was… wow, my tan looks really nice! hahaha!!! 😛

as i said in my previous post, as much as i’d like to swear off drinking i don’t think i’m ready to give it up yet. so i guess, i’ll just have to do better in pacing next time. wish me luck as i have three parties this coming weekend. hahahahaha! 😛

i love the rain, really i do

i know i’ve mentioned how much i love the rain before, but i want to say it again. actually, i want to mention it everytime it rains. last night, i got caught in the rain without an umbrella. i actually have an extra one in the office but i was too lazy to bring it with me home despite the sound of thunder and the flashes of lighting that were obvious signs of rain. i walked to greenbelt with a slight drizzle but as soon as i got to greenbelt it started pouring hard. i passed time looking at books in national book store but decided to go home eventually. i could’ve bought an umbrella in sm but decided not to because i assumed that it wouldn’t be raining anymore when i got to quezon avenue station. but boy, was i wrong! hahaha. it was still raining when i got to quezon avenue which made me think, i’ll just geet a cab when i get down. but i wasn’t expecting the number of people waiting for a ride either. normally this would’ve pissed me off but i was too entranced by the rain to be mad. i had to take three jeepney rides home, one first to pantranco, another to banawe then the last to get me to my house. needless to say, i was pretty soaked when i got home but i took a hot shower immediately. i actually thought i’d be sick today but there isn’t even a slight sign of colds. lucky me, i guess. i really enjoyed my little rain adventure last night but next time i’ll probably bring an umbrella. ;))

yeah i know, i know, this is a mid-week update already. well, i’ve been too busy and lazy to update last week properly. let me now recount the whirlwind this past few days have been for me…

friday, 2008.08.15: pre-finals day preparation

after work, joy, rissa and i went shopping in glorietta for last minute stuff we needed for the league-end party. pia and i spent the night at joy and connie’s new condo. we stayed up till 2am watching episodes of how i met your mother on pia’s laptop.

saturday, 2008.08.16: monsoon league finals day

the day of firsts…

the first time i wore soccer shorts…

eww… it really just isn’t me but since it’s part of the uniform, i’ll be wearing it from now on. 😦

the first time it rained so hard mid-day that most of the games were cancelled…

except for the top 4 seeds which we were part of. we played SP01 first and…

the first time Chowking TODA beat SP01…

which lead to…

wanna know what happens next?

…but i’ve been kinda sorta medyo busy these past few weeks

so here’s a super short update on what’s happened…

subic getaway

the perfect long weekend… a road trip to subic for sun, sand, ultimate frisbee, lots of picture taking, swimming, drinking, dancing and bonding!!! how i wish it were always this easy to get away from the hustle and bussle of the city!!!

check out my flickr for my pics from that weekend. 😀

rissa’s birthday celebration

on my frustrated dreams

i watched lea salonga’s concert sunday night on tv (because i was too cheap and tamad to watch it live). once again, as with every other time i hear lea sing, i was filled with the biggest sense of longing to quit my job and pursue my dream of becoming a broadway star. i can hear some of you now saying that it isn’t too late. truth is, although i would love to be a broadway star i’m just too shy and vocally untrained to be one. i did make a promise to myself to attend a workshop one summer though. my goal for 2009! 😀

nadal love

nadal won over djokovic in the stella artois finals! yey! actually, i would have been happy if either of them won because i have huge crushes on both of them.

on becoming an ultimate machine

wendell, one of the best ultimate players in the philippines, has been really generous in extending his help in training my team. so now instead of “light” trainings on tuesdays and thursdays, we have very intense and tiring sessions. and when i say intense, i mean intense! kamusta naman sa sangkatutak na sprints with 10 pushups for each drop of the disc?! :S but i’m glad because my forehand is back and my endurance is improving a whole lot. i can’t wait for the next league!!!

a work dilemma

i have to choice to move to another module in my department. thing is, i feel so unexperienced and i fear failure. one of my officemates told me there’s nothing to fear though. so i might be shifting modules soon. 😉

so that’s it so far i guess. i’ll try to write a better update next week. hehehe. 😀

i’m currently obsessed with…

... victoria's secret lingerie (i really want to buy some and have them shipped here)
... tumblr-ing
... hula-hooping
... learning my old piano pieces again
... expensive stuff i can't afford
... still being kissed ala north & south

That’s the closest to my idea of love: watching the skyline, making out, making mistakes, making believe desire means it’s with somebody else, then breaking up, and, if we’re lucky, forgiveness that comes right before take-off. There, I’ve said it. What more can one want? A lover who loves me as much as the rain. Rain, and, from the opening credits to the closing heart, Gershwin.
