just ignore drunken-induced rants of mine. they cannot be helped sometimes. ;p

despite my inconsistent bouts of writing, i have always summed up the previous year before proceeding on to the new one. so here’s my tribute to 2010…

DRINKING BUDDIES OF THE YEAR?

definitely my theater barkada. we call each other bfriends, which stands for barkada friends, a term that was coined during the rehearsals for our play. i actually feel guilty because i feel responsible for introducing them to alcohol. whoops! hahaha!

YOUR SONG FOR 2010

Ready To Be Loved – Pasek & Paul (Composers)

something has got to start, i am ready to be loved
someone come steal my heart, i am ready to be loved
i know you’ll find me it takes time
but today i know that i’m ready to be loved ♫♪

i heard this song in a musical, Edges, performed by Ateneo’s Blue Rep and i instantly fell-in-love with it. it’s become one of my happy songs. the sentiment of the song best describes where i’m at right now… i am ready to be loved. ;p

DATE AWARD

my one and only date, nina, pretty much abandoned me when she got a boyfriend. so this award goes to jobelle, who i met during the musical theater workshop as well. we’d meet up after work for late night dinners at north park or kfc then take the mrt home together. she’s in the advertising world so i’ve went to a bunch of her events for support. we’ve been planning a “spontaneous” trip to la union for a while now but it hasn’t pushed through yet. hopefully this year, we’ll be able to do it.

NEWCOMER AWARD – COOLEST NEW FRIEND(S)

so i have been mentioning them a lot already, no surprise here… the bfriends! to quote what i used as a caption in our christmas photo album, “sometimes in life, you join in a musical theater workshop and meet people who burst out into song and dance as much as you do and you fall-in-love with each and every one of them.” a diverse group of people brought together by a common love for music and dare i say it, acting. it’s been fun finally hanging out a bunch with people who love broadway as much as i do and i’m looking forward to having more adventures and trips with them this year!

HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR?

the amount of traveling i did. some were planned and some were surprise trips but i enjoyed them all.

01.29-02.02 Bangkok [Ultimate Hat Tourney]
02.17-02.21 Boracay [Taty’s Wedding]
02.28-03.12 Singapore [Work]
03.13-03.16 Boracay [Ultimate Beach Tourney]
06.15-06.19 Kuala Lumpur [Family Trip]
08.27-08.30 Dumaguete [Family Trip]
09.12 Tagaytay [Bfriends Trip]
09.17-09.19 Cagayan de Oro [Dotz’ Wedding]
10.09-10.10 Boracay [Bfriends Trip]
10.10-10.24 US [Work]
11.19-11.21 Davao [Io’s Wedding]
11.25-11.27 Clark [Ultimate Tourney]
12-19-01.03 Davao [Holidays]

8 domestic trips, almost half of which were to boracay and 4 international trips including a business trip to the US. woot! woot!

one of the biggest highlights was flying business class to the US. i swear if only i were swimming in money, i’d never fly economy again. but i’m not, so here’s to hoping i get sent to the US for work again so i can experience the business class treatment once again.

i can only hope i get to travel as much this year too!!!

LOW POINT OF THE YEAR?

wah, love life? my stone-cold iced heart got thawed twice in 2010. once by a missionary guy who i still correspond with now but not as much as during the first few months he was away. and the other by a guy i met in my theater workshop. did i fall-in-love? yes, a little bit with each one. did i get my heart broken? i’m not so sure, bruised probably and more so from the latter than the former guy. the upside of it all is that i know i’m ready to open my heart once again. yep, i’m ready to be loved. ;p

BEST HOLIDAY

i’ve been going through my trips in my head and i honestly can’t choose just one. from playing in the finals of an international disc tournament to kissing boys in boracay to exploring singapore with frenchies to family bonding in kuala lumpur to a 24-hour trip to boracay and shopping in florida, i just can’t choose one.

BEST MOVIE FOR 2010

hands down, Inception! did the top fall? was he stuck in limbo? why is marion cottilard so creepy? i liked this movie so much i had to watch it twice, in the same week. i even had a dream starring one of the actors from the movie. talk about obsessed! hahaha!

i was seriously thinking of putting down Never Let Me Go here as well because it made me cry. i haven’t cried because of a movie in quite a while now so this surprised me. i’m falling in love with Andrew Garfield as an actor. he’s just so talented, not to mention, cute too! haha! anyway, the movie itself was pretty blah but the memory of the book lingered on throughout and i guess that’s why i was so affected the by the movie.

VALENTINE’S DAY DATE

there is so much i do not like about valentine’s day, maybe because i’m single and bitter. hahaha! valentine’s day 2010 was spent attending a friend’s despedida de soltera then drinking and partying with friends in distillery fort. yep, valentine’s day + bitter singlehood + alcohol = kinda perfect combination!

BEST BOOK FOR 2010

One Day by David Nicholls. i bought this book on a suggestion from a Powerbooks employee. i finished it while lounging by the pool in Cagayan de Oro and i was fighting back tears. a very close runner-up for me is the Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins.

RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR

Tapella for its yummy paella and not-too-overpriced selection of wine. Red Mango’s green tea yoghurt with sliced almonds was hands-down my favorite dessert of 2010.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR?

Pretty much the same as always… work hard then play harder! seriously though, i want to travel even more in 2011 if possible.

MOST STUPID IDEA WHEN DRUNK

sadly, i haven’t really been drinking enough to get to the point where i do stupid stuff. i’ve matured a lot as a drinker. E.D.A.D.!!! ;p

MOST MEMORABLE FIRSTS

  • “catching” the bouquet at a friend’s wedding

… and kissing the guy who got the garter. i swear that game was rigged!!! and  when the groom approached me and said, “just one little kiss” i just couldn’t say no. hay… i sure did surprise my friends when i did that!

  • musical theater workshop

i’ve been procrastinating on this item on my bucket list for two years already so after a lot of psyching i signed myself up for the 9 Works Theatrical Summer Workshop. i was really scared and intimidated about the acting aspect but was surprised to discover that most of what we did during classes were bonding exercises and games to improve characterization and memory. despite the fact that i was just part of the chorus, i thoroughly enjoyed the experience. i might just do it again this year.

  • traveling alone

i had to travel out of the country twice for work in 2010, Singapore and the US. prior to this i’ve traveled with either friends or family so it was definitely a first.

BIGGEST CHANGE OF THE YEAR

probably stepping out of my comfort zone and joining the theater workshop. lots of my friends don’t see it but i’m a very shy girl and i hate doing things out of my comfort zone. on day 2 of the workshop, we were asked to do a log-roll over all of our classmates. yep, definitely out of my comfort zone there!

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION

i’m making a separate post for this.

GENERAL FEELING FOR 2011

Time to be inspired again!
