Stray Italian Greyhound
Vienna Teng
Oh no not now
Please not now
I just settled into the glass half empty
Made myself at home
And so why now
Please not now
I just stopped believing in happy endings
Harbors of my own
But you had to come along didn’t you
Break down the doors, throw open windows
Oh if you knew just what a fool you have made me
So what do I do with this?
This stray Italian greyhound
These inconvenient fireworks
This ice-cream-covered screaming hyperactive thought
God I just want to lay down
These colors make my eyes hurt
This feeling calls for everything that I am not
I’m not that kind
I’m so good at shooting down any notion
This tired world could change
It’s all been bought
Or at least that was my line
No use in spending all that emotion
When there’s someone else to blame
But you had to come along didn’t you
Rev up the crowd, rewrite the rule book
Where do I go when every ‘no’ turns into ‘maybe’
So what do I do with this?
This sudden burst of sunlight
And me with my umbrella
Cross-indexing every weatherman’s report
I was ready for the downslide
But not for spring to well up
This feeling calls for everything I can’t afford
To know is possible now
What do I do
With a love that won’t sit still
Won’t do what it’s told
What do I do
With a love that won’t sit still

ayn and i were able to get our mom to let us join mimay and her boyfriend mike on a roadtrip to Santa Cruz and San Francisco last weekend. we got tickets to watch Vienna Teng at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, CA. mimay and ayn are big, big fans of hers. i just jumped on the chance to have a few days of freedom from visiting relatives. and mike came along to drive us around.
we had dinner at this pizza place, Tony and Alba’s, where i saw the cutest guy i’ve seen so far since coming here. he was behind the counter and i was too shy to flirt with him. i think i lost my touch with the lack of flirting and alcohol these past few weeks.
The Paper Raincoat opened for her. the band is a collaboration between Alex Wong and Amber Rubarth, both very talented artists. i have a crush on the former. you all know i’m a sucker for a guy with a beautiful voice who could play multiple musical instruments. amazing! hehehe. he also co-produced Vienna Teng’s album with her. i really wanted to have a picture with him after the show but we couldn’t find him in the crowd and we were in a rush to head back to SF already. we got a picture with Vienna Teng though after mimay fibbed a little by telling her we came from the Philippines specifically to watch her perform. hahaha!

here’s a youtube video of a cool a cappella song, “Rewind”, which The Paper Raincoat also performed in the concert we watched…
i was finally able to watch this movie last week. i’ve had it in my dvd queue for a while now but i wasn’t in the mood to watch it till last week. i should’ve watched it sooner!!! some songs from the soundtrack have been playing on a loop in my ipod since then. i just can’t get enough of them!
i really truly love broadway! as usual, every ounce of my body is once again yearning to drop everything and find some way to become a broadway actress. but i’ve already faced the fact that that’s one dream that’ll always remain a dream.
here are some songs from the movie/broadway play that i’d like to share with you…
light my candle
hindi naman siya malandi noh?
i love this because it’s cute and flirty! like me! hahaha.
i’ll cover you
so with a thousand sweet kisses, I’ll cover you.
Awwww…
another day
there’s only us.
there’s only this.
forget regret or life you’re sure to miss.
no other road.
no other way.
no day but today!
there’s only now.
there’s only here.
give in to love or life in fear.
no other path.
no other way.
no day but today!
my favorite song from the soundtrack. i included this clip from the broadway play. in my opinion the best thing about broadway/musicals are songs like this where characters answer each other in song. simply genius! by the way, this is also sung in the end of the movie as…
Finale B
seasons of love
525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear.
525,600 minutes – how do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee.
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.
In 525,600 minutes – how do you measure a year in the life?
How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love.
Seasons of love.
what’s a rent playlist without this song?
PS: it’s so me to break my writing hiatus by posting about a broadway musical/movie. hahaha!
Dancing
Elisa
Time is gonna take my mind
and carry it far away where I can fly
The depth of life will dim my temptation to live for you
If I were to be alone silence would rock my tears
’cause it’s all about love and I know better
How life is a waving feather
So I put my arms around you around you
And I know that I’ll be leaving soon
My eyes are on you they’re on you
And you see that I can’t stop shaking
No, I won’t step back but I’ll look down to hide from your eyes
’cause what I feel is so sweet and I’m scared that even my own breath
Oh could burst it if it were a bubble
And I’d better dream if I have to struggle
So I put my arms around you around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you they’re on you
And I hope that you won’t hurt me
I’m dancing in the room as if I was in the woods with you
No need for anything but music
Music’s the reason why I know time still exists
Time still exists
Time still exists
Time still exists
So I put my arms around you around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you they’re on you
And I hope that you won’t hurt me
So I put my arms around you around you
And I hope that I will do no wrong
My eyes are on you they’re on you
And I hope that you won’t hurt me

wow, adele got lots of nods from the grammy academy. i haven’t really listened to the other songs from her album but i love chasing pavements. i’m really happy sara bareilles was nominated. those of you who know me know how much i love her. i really hope she wins a grammy.
ne-yo got lots of nods too. i wish he wins most. i really love his songs, great lyrics and beats. i’m psyched for the grammy’s. woot!
i have a little confession to make. i’m starting to develop this major crush on Robert Pattinson which is really weird ‘coz he’s really not my type. i’ve been watching online interviews of him on youtube and i must say he’s really cute in the i-look-like-i-haven’t-showered-yet-but-i-really-don’t-care kind of way. seriously, what’s wrong with his hair? despite his distracting hair, i’m still getting a bit too interested in his life and activities. perhaps it’s that boyish charm that’s reeling me in.
i finally read cleolinda’s recap of the Twilight movie: Twilight in Fifteen Minutes. the perfect recap in my opinion!!! it was so hard trying not to laugh out loud at my desk. =)
this isn’t twilight related anymore but i’m really really loving this song right here…
clip from Center Stage 2 Turn It Up
the song is Swing Baby Swing by The DNC and it’s playing on loop on my ipod right now.
